Pumkins, Watermelons and Soil...Oh My!
I found out recently that it's not ever boys and girls dream to grow there own pumpkins and watermelon....Who knew? It blew me away when I found this out, I always thought it would be the coolest thing to grow your own pumpkins for Halloween and also your own watermelons for the middle of the summer, when all you want to do after a good game of Ultimate is go up to your room and grab a fresh watermelon! I am the kind of person that doesn't wait for their dreams to come true, I go out and try as soon as I can. So one day when I was in Canadian tire I found some seeds (seen in the picture on the left) and that's when a tectonic photon blast began to burn inside of me. By the time I got home I had already planned out the career path of my new favourite thing to spend time on. A superdeduperty large problem arose, the problem was that by the time the little sprout-lings out grew their starting pots it would still be freezing cold outside and those little guys can't handle that kind of environment. I came up with the idea of making an indoor box with a slide out bottom so once it gets warm enough outside I wouldn't have to re-pot, all I have to do now is bring the box out side (not an easy job its really heavy with all the soil) and place it on an empty area then pull the bottom.....SIMPLE RIGHT? Well I don't know the answer yet cause the box is still up in my room but when I take it outside I will definitely lets all or you know (when I say all of you I am talking about Amanda, Kelsey and Laura :p since you three are the only ones that read this blog). Unfortunately the plants haven't been doing very well and I think its because of where they are (not a lot of sunlight), also I have been spraying them with water, which after some research is a bad idea! But a few days ago I found a light that wasn't being used and I have strapped it about a foot above the plants just to give them a little more light than before............Deductified
